The government runs many schemes for women, one of which is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Under this scheme, each woman is given an amount of ₹5000. Out of this, ₹3000 is provided during the delivery period for the nutrition of the women, and the remaining ₹2000 is given after delivery for the nourishment of the children.

All pregnant women can benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Under this scheme, women are provided an amount of ₹5000 in two or three installments. In some states, this amount has been increased; for example, in Rajasthan, pregnant women receive ₹6500 in two installments.
The objective is to compensate working women for the loss of wages and ensure their proper rest and nutrition. This amount is provided to improve the health of pregnant women and for their proper diet. The money is directly transferred to the women’s bank accounts.
The first installment of ₹1000 is given at the time of pregnancy registration. The second installment of ₹2000 is provided if the beneficiary undergoes at least one antenatal check-up after six months of pregnancy. The third installment of ₹2000 is given when the child’s birth is registered, and the child receives the first cycle of immunizations, including BCG, OPV, DPT, and Hepatitis B. Women employed in government jobs are not eligible for this scheme.
Women can get information about the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana from their nearest Anganwadi center. They can apply online with the necessary documents through the official website pmmvy.wcd.gov.in or by visiting their nearest e-Mitra center. Pregnant women over 19 years of age can apply for this scheme.
Women can also apply with the assistance of Anganwadi helpers, Anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers. The applicant woman needs to have a bank account in her name.
